Back To Meeting Schedules

Dear Rye Brook Residents:
If you are available, please join us for a brief Arbor Day tree planting ceremony this Friday, April 29 at 9:00 A.M. at Rye Hills Park.
Mayor Paul Rosenberg will be presiding at this event to celebrate Arbor Day in Rye Brook and our municipality’s 21st year as a “Tree City USA” recipient.  The village will be planting a Willow Oak tree in a prominent location in this park.  Residents interested in attending should park in Crawford Park and walk over to Rye Hills Park.  There is also limited parking for individuals with disabilities within Rye Hills Park (the entrance is accessible through the Hidden Falls development).
If you are unable to attend, please consider planting trees and supporting efforts to protect our village trees and woodlands in recognition of Arbor Day.
Arbor Day History:
Arbor Day is America’s National Tree holiday.  It started in Nebraska in the 1870’s.   J. Sterling Morton, a pioneer who moved into the Nebraska territory, became the editor of Nebraska’s first newspaper and advocated tree plantings from individuals and civic organizations.  This led to the concept of a national Arbor Day, and since 1970 Arbor Day is usually celebrated across the nation on the last Friday in April.
