GET A SNEAK PREVIEW OF SHARED SERVICES VIDEO
TO BE PRESENTED AT COUNTY EXPO NEXT WEEK
It won’t get an Oscar nomination for sure, but Westchester County’s short video “United We Save” (now showing on the county’s Web site
) sets the stage for an important Shared Services Expo on Sept. 26. The “actors” in the five-minute video are actually local officials who tell real stories about how their communities have saved money, thanks to the county’s shared services. Check it out at www.westchestergov.com
. The expo will take place at the Westchester County Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 26.
County Executive Robert P. Astorino, who is featured in the video and will host the expo, said: “The challenge of government doing more with less has never been greater. One solution is for various levels of government to come together to share resources and expertise. The public doesn’t care who is doing the job. What they care about are results and getting value for their tax dollars.”
The expo is an opportunity for local governments, schools and other districts to find out how they may be able to save taxpayer dollars and improve their operations by collaborating with county government.
Attendees will be able to talk directly to representatives of various county departments to discuss the needs of their government or district. The 2013 Shared Municipal Services Resource Guide will be distributed, which is a comprehensive description of services available in the areas of public safety, planning, purchasing, information technology and many more.
While walk-in registration is permitted, online registration
is strongly encouraged at www.westchestergov.com/expo2013
. Admission and parking are free. The event is open to representatives from municipalities as well as to members of the public. View the invitation
