Currently, the Village of Rye Brook has a service contract with AAA Carting that includes rear yard garbage collection service. This contract is set to expire on May 31st and the village has solicited bids for a new contract to start on June 1, 2015. These bids were opened earlier this month.
The bid allows for the Village Board to select one of two service level options, both of which would offer a savings below our current service contract:
Option 1: Maintain current level of service: Rear yard collection of garbage; all other collections (recycling, bulk, etc.) would be curbside. This service allows for garbage cans to be off the street and makes it easier for those residents who may have difficulty bringing the cans to the curb.
Option 2: Alternative level of service: All collections would be curbside, including garbage. This bid would provide an additional savings of $130,000 compared to Option 1 but would require homeowners to bring their garbage cans to the curb.
The Village Board will be considering these options at their next Village Board Meeting on April 14, 2015 at 7:30 P.M. and would greatly appreciate feedback from the Rye Brook residents on your preferred option either at the meeting or via e-mail. The village would also appreciate knowing whether or not you take advantage of rear-yard collection or bring it to the curb by choice.
