The Rye Brook Little League opening day parade took place on Saturday April 9th. The Port Chester and Rye Brook Fire Departments as well as The Port Chester/Rye/Rye Brook EMS took part in the parade from Ridge Street School to Pine Ridge Park. The parade, which was led by Rye Brook’s Police motorcycle had approximately 350 little leaguers. Last summers championship travel baseball team was recognized at our opening day ceremonies.
The opening day ceremonies took place at Pine Ridge Park on the new field. Mayor Rand, Trustees Feinstein, Buzin, Rosenberg and Brown, NYS Assemblyman Lattimer, as well as, Village Administrator Chris Bradbury were all in attendance. Mayor Rand introduced the special guest of the ceremony. David Cone, former pitcher for the Mets and Yankees threw out the first pitch, thanks to his involvement with the ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). David threw his pitch, which was a strike, to Nicole Sotire, a player for the Double R Construction Mariners. David Cone stayed after the ceremony and signed autographs for all who wanted.
There were games throughout the day at all Rye Brook fields.
