Dear Rye Brook Residents:
I want to give you an update on what we’ve learned about the power outages from Con Ed and Westchester County.
81,000 Con Ed customers were affected by storm in their service area. So far, 16,000-17,000 customers have been restored.
Con Ed bucket trucks could not restore power during high winds last night, but luckily, winds are slowing down today and tonight.
Con Ed’s primary focus today is on road closures due to downed power lines, and critical access areas. Known medical hardship customers have also been contacted by con ed.
Most Con Ed residential restoration is not starting until tomorrow (Sunday) and will continue for several days. They have also called in additional crews from other areas.
Due to this still being winter, Rye Brook is opening up our warming center at the Posillipo center at 32 Garibaldi Place, (where you can also charge your phones/tablets) from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM today. It may stay open longer if needed.
Rye Brook has had extra police, fire, and public works crews out throughout this storm event.
We still have approximately 600 Con Ed customers without electricity and 3 public roads are closed (Anderson Hill, upper Lincoln near Purchase College, and Old Oak).
We are continually pressing Con Ed to address our affected residents. I am truly sorry that some residents are still without power.
I will send another update as warranted.
Paul S. Rosenberg
Mayor, Village of Rye Brook
