Road Resurfacing
Release Date: October 21, 2011

The Village of Rye brook will begin road resurfacing operations beginning Tuesday October 25th and lasting for approximately (3) three weeks (Weather changes will affect the schedule). During this time, road surfaces will be milled, curbs removed and prepared for a new surface and curbing. Residents must not place leaves into the roadway, please pile leaves onto the front lawn area within the right of way, placing leaves in the roadway will slow down paving operations.

Road work will happen on the following roads:

1.       Latonia Road Between Winding Wood and Winding Wood Road
2.       Betsy Brown from Dead End to North Ridge Street
3.       Blue Bird Hollow from Rock Ridge to Meadowlark
4.       Meadowlark from North Ridge Street to Oriole Place
5.       Westerleigh Court

During this time, residents can expect limited road closures, congestion and heavy equipment. Motorists are advised to be aware of elevated sewer drains and storm drains and use caution when driving over such roads, reduced speeds are strongly advised.

During the installation of new pavement, roads may be open to traffic on one lane only. Motorists SHALL NOT drive on newly paved surfaces unless signaled. Once paving operations are completed crews will begin to install curbing. Curbing installation will take a couple of weeks as there are a significant amount of curbs to reinstall, topsoil and seed backfill to follow behind. We ask for patience with the installation of curbing, this phase is very time and labor intensive.

Sincerely,

Michal J. Nowak
Director of Public Works
