“September is Library Card Signup Month”
Celebrate “September is Library Card Signup Month” at the Port Chester-Rye Brook Public Library. Children of all ages in Port Chester and Rye Brook who signup for a library card during the month of September will receive a special surprise. Children must be accompanied by their parent/guardian in order to get a library card. The parent/guardian can show a driver’s license or 2 pieces of identification that have their name and address on it, such as a telephone or utility bill to obtain the library card. “Sing, Dance and Have Fun with Dawny Dew”
Babies, toddlers and preschoolers will sing songs and rhymes, listen to stories and meet puppets Sonny, Goo Goo and Gaga. This program will be held on Mondays at 11:30am on the following dates: September 18 & 25; October 2, 16, & 23 and November 6, 13 & 20. No pre-registration is required. “Singalongs with Chloe”
Babies, toddlers and preschoolers will have fun with songs, instruments, bubbles & more! This program will be held at on Tuesdays at 9:30am on the following dates: September 19 & 26; October 3, 10, 17, 24 & 31 and November 7 & 14. No pre-registration is required. “Toddler Time with Ms. Tee”
“Toddler Time with Ms. Tee” for ages 2-3 years is on Thursdays at 11:00am. Classes will be held on Thursdays, September 28, October 5, 12, 19 & 26 and November 2 & 9. Parents and children will participate with fingerplays, songs, stories, musical instruments and other related parent child activities. Pre-Registration is required starting Tuesday, September 12th by phone (914)939-6710 x108 or in person.
“Preschoolers with Ms. Tee”
“Preschool Storytime with Ms. Tee” is for ages 3-5 years on Thursdays at 10:00am. Classes will be held on Thursdays, September 28; October 5, 12, 19 & 26 and November 2 & 9. Children will listen to stories and participate in songs, fingerplays, movement and an occasional craft activity. Fences: Read it, See it!
The library will show the movie Fences on Monday, October 23, 2017 at 6:00 pm. A discussion of the play will be held on Monday, October 30, 2017 at 7:00pm. Everyone is invited to participate in either or both. Books are available now near the Information Desk.

Christopher Morabito Author of "O Negative: A Story of Hope"

Mr. Morabito will discuss what inspired him to write a book, his writing process, and why he based a book on his childhood in Port Chester. The town of Port Gemini, the story’s location, was inspired by Port Chester and several of its buildings, such as Corpus Christi Church and the Life Savers Building. He currently lives in upstate New York. Copies of his book will be sold at the event with a portion of each sale benefiting the library.

Margaret Mendel Author of Fish Kicker

Author Margaret Mendel will visit the library on Monday, September 27, 2017 to discuss her novel Fish Kicker, in which Sharon Wolf must overcome alcoholism and homelessness in Alaska to regain custody of her daughter. To complicate things, she’s stalked by a murderer who believes she witnessed his crime.

The Friends of the Port Chester-Rye Brook Public Library present a day of Halloween fun on Saturday, October 21st!
We will have 2 special events that day:
11:30am Singalongs with Chloe: babies, toddlers, and preschoolers will have fun singing songs, and playing with instruments and bubbles.
2:30pm The Remarkable Renaldo: children ages 5 and up will enjoy this interactive circus, magic and juggling show.
We encourage children to come in costume, and parents to bring cameras to take pictures of them with Halloween characters.
