PROJECT DELAYED AT THIS TIME DUE TO ECONOMIC CONDITIONS
Rye Brook to Draft its First Comprehensive Plan:
The Village of Rye Brook is pleased to build upon the foundations of the 2000 Vision Plan by beginning to prepare its first Comprehensive Plan. This process will ultimately result in a document that will provide a basis for land use and other governmental decision-making over the next 20 years. This is a very large undertaking that is expected to take approximately two (2) years to implement.
Request for Proposals (RFP) were due February 28, 2008:
The first step in this process is to receive proposals from planning firms that may be interested in working with Village of Rye Brook officials, residents and business owners to draft the Comprehensive Plan. After seeking comments from the Village Board and members of the public on a draft Request for Proposals (RFP), the RFP was finalized and made available on December 18, 2007. The deadline for interested planning firms to submit proposals was February 28, 2008. Please click here for a copy of the Request for Proposals.
Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee:
The Village is also considering the membership of a Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee that would meet regularly with the selected Planning consultant over multiple years to implement the Comprehensive Plan. Please click here for additional information on this committee and to view a list of groups that will receive consideration to have a representative on the committee. The goal is to have a dedicated group of knowledgeable volunteers that would champion the implementation of this Plan and would be representative of the varied interests of the Rye Brook community.
Update on Review of Consulting Firms:
The Village received a total of nine (9) responses to the RFP ranging in price from $144,000 to $294,800. Unlike a bid, price is not the only main factor in selecting a consultant as other items such as qualifications, experience and references are also considered. A committee reviewed all nine (9) responses, and narrowed them to four (4) firms to interview. Following interviews, the committee recommended that the Village Board interview and select from two (2) firms. The Village Board met with both firms and selected a preferred firm to perform this work. Draft contracts have been exchanged.
Delay of Project:
Unfortunately, due to the concerns with the economy and the financial sector that is affecting the residents of Rye Brook and the rest of the country, the Village has decided to place this project on hold at this time. While the Village intends to proceed on this project, the timing is not right and it would not be prudent to spend the $100,000 allocated in the current municipal budget for this purpose.
Submission off Comments:
Please send any written comments on the Comprehensive Plan Process, or the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee to Village Administrator Christopher J. Bradbury at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please indicate “Comprehensive Plan Comments” in the “Subject” line of the e-mail. All comments will be circulated to the Village Board.
